This is an update information page about Pat's running with the torch.
Pat was selected by one of the sponsors of the games, and on Friday night 14th July, she lit her torch at about 7pm from that of the runner before, ran with it four hundred metres (approximately a quarter of a mile), and then lit the torch of the next relay runner.
There is a larger scale map showing the whole of that day's route that can be accessed from the one on the left by clicking on the image of Pat's actual route (shown in light blue) and the torch relay (shown in yellow).
Pat ran on day 37 of the torch relay in the early evening. It started at Tanunda in the Barossa Valley at 7.45 in the morning, and was carried through Lyndoch to Gawler where there was a break for lunch.
From Gawler it headed south down the Main North Road to Elizabeth, through Salisbury (where it was half an hour late) and then headed south-east to Greenwith, Golden Grove, and then on to Modbury via Para Vista where Pat picked it up. The evening saw it arrive at Modbury about 7.30pm, and a Civic Reception greeted those who ran on the last part of that day. About 10,000 attended the reception, and the suburban route was heavily lined with people four and five deep on the footpath, so popular has the relay been.
This being in the middle of the Australian winter, it was dark, and a few raindrops fell intermittently; certainly it was windy and cold.

If you are required to type a name in for identification, Pat is entered into their systems as "Patricia Ashton".
The flame arrived in South Australia several days ago, en route to Sydney, with the southern part of country South Australia, country Victoria, and Melbourne still to host it. It has already travelled via Queensland, the Northern Territory, and Western Australia, hand carried, carried under water, carried in aircraft, and carried on the "Indian-Pacific" train from Kalgoorlie to Port Augusta a week ago (Sunday 9th July).
Pat's route is shown on the map.
